Candidates must have a vocational certificate and a valid mechanic’s card issued by a recognized certifying authority. A few years of relevant experience as a mechanic as well as a Class 1 driver’s licence are also required.
Sound knowledge of :
- spoken French and English, and written French;
- the techniques, practices and tools of the trade;
- how motorized equipment is constructed and how it functions;
- the proper functioning of dashboard instruments and various accessory mechanisms;
- all types of metals and alloys, and their properties;
- how to operate the motor and power equipment being used, and what its capacity and limitations are.
