Robotics & Automation Field Programmer

NSB Omega is searching for a Database Administrator for our MAJO Oil & Gas Client in Cold Lake, AB.

Assignment Description
We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Robotics & Automation Field Programmer to support cutting-edge technology deployments across oil & gas facilities. This role blends programming, field service, and advanced robotics—including work with robotic inspection platforms (such as Boston Dynamics robotic dogs) and industrial drones.

You’ll play a key role in configuring, deploying, troubleshooting, and optimizing robotic and drone systems in real-world industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, configure, and deploy robotic systems and drones for industrial inspection and data collection

  • Work directly with robotic platforms (e.g., Boston Dynamics robotic dog systems) in oil & gas environments

  • Set up and commission equipment at client sites

  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues in the field

  • Support integration of robotics with plant systems and data platforms

  • Perform routine maintenance, updates, and performance optimization

  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve system functionality

  • Train on-site personnel on proper use of robotics and drone technology

  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and regulations

Qualifications

  • Experience in programming (Python, C++, or similar)

  • Hands-on experience with robotics, automation systems, or drones

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Comfortable working in industrial environments (oil & gas, manufacturing, etc.)

  • Ability to travel to various job sites

  • Understanding of networking, sensors, and system integration is an asset

  • Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) is considered a strong asset

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check

  • Comfortable working outdoors and in physically demanding environments

  • Able to work at heights and in confined spaces if required

  • Strong communication and independent work skills
