Systems Analyst II (Mainframe)

The position is responsible for the request processing and the quality control, maintenance, change

management, support and administration of mainframe production systems primarily, but not

limited to, MCP. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of Mainframe technology skills, such

as IDMS, COBOL, ADSO, JCL, and SPF, to be able to support the applications and to complete

requests for application integration, as initiated by various client groups and projects, such as the

Digital by Design program. The position will also provide subject matter expertise of MCP to assist

the Migration Project Team in their analysis and development.

2.3 Assignment Details

Working under the direction of the OCIO DevOps Manager, the responsibilities of the Systems

Analyst II will include, but not be limited to the following.

Project Engagement :

Document existing application processes from the legacy system.

Develop ad hoc or customized reporting, as required.

Participate in parallel testing and validate results.

Provide source code from legacy system, as required.

Extract data for conversion into new system.

Participate in project checkpoint meetings, as required.

Assist with other project-related documents or tasks, as required.

Support Services :

Translate business requirements into system design and specification documents for

enhancements to existing mainframe systems.

Document application processes, as required.

Code, test, and implement modifications to systems, ensuring adherence to OCIO standards

and procedures.

Create and modify code, screens and reports according to published standards and

considering the Information Management and Information Protection requirements for the

system.

Verify accuracy and completeness of programs by preparing test plans and sample data,

and testing them by means of unit, functional, integration, system and user acceptance

testing.

Work closely with clients to determine appropriate solutions for enhancements /

modifications to existing Mainframe applications.

Provide expert consultation in production system analysis, performance, scalability, security,

and maintenance.

Work with Digital By Design Team to complete requests for eservice integration with

Mainframe applications, as required.

Assist with decommissioning of obsolete mainframe applications, as required.

Participate in mainframe modernization activities, as required.
