Ducks Unlimited, Inc., the world’s leading wetland and waterfowl conservation organization, is seeking a self-motivated, experienced civil engineer to be located in the Vancouver Field Office in Vancouver, WA. The successful applicant will join a highly motivated conservation team of biologists and engineers who are responsible for the planning, design, and construction of wetland and wild land restoration projects in the Pacific Northwest.
Qualifications
Candidates must have, at minimum, a B.S in an engineering curriculum and be a registered civil engineer in the state(s) of Washington and / or Oregon currently holding a PE license (or be able to obtain within 9 months) with at least 8 years’ experience. Desirable qualifications include GPS surveying, Civil3D, H&H modeling, construction contracting, construction inspection and management, soil science, hydraulics, agricultural engineering, and levee / canal design. Experience with tidal and estuary wetland restoration, as well as stream restoration and fish barrier modifications would be beneficial. Demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
Candidates must be self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work with and solve problems in close team-based relationships. Candidates must be able to perform field work that includes strenuous outdoor activity.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work under the Manager of Engineering Services and will serve in a senior engineering leadership role responsible for planning, designing, contracting, and performing construction management functions on wetland, riparian, riverine and associated habitat restoration projects in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Utah. The individual will split time between anticipated future supervisory management responsibilities and a project delivery role that will include similar tasks as undertaken by his / her direct reports. A close working relationship with local, state, and federal personnel, private landowners, and other conservation partners will be an important aspect of the job. The position will require travel throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Specific duties include :
- Participate in leadership and team meetings to lead, strategize and grow the program.
- Perform engineering scoping, planning, design, and construction management on specific projects.
- Prepare project scopes of work and budgets for funding proposals.
- Prepare project plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
- Prepare bid documents, conduct pre-bid site meetings, and finalize contractor selection.
- Conduct field inspections and perform construction management oversight.
- Act as contracting officer to ensure compliance and budget management.
- Assist with supervisory oversight, coordination, training, and support for an engineering services team.

SALARY AND BENEFITS PACKAGE : Salary range : $120,000.00- $160,000.00 annually.
