Description de poste

The Conference Board of Canada (CBoC) is the nation’s largest independent applied research organization offering unbiased, evidence-based information and analysis to both industry, NGOs and federal / provincial governments. We have one of the country’s largest private economic analysis and forecasting teams and are widely recognized for expert economic forecasting, modeling, and leading analysis. CBoC undertakes research to address the most pressing issues in Innovation and Technology, Human Capital, Sustainability, Immigration, Indigenous and Northern Communities, Education and Skills, and Health. Our social science research provides actionable pathways to solutions. Simply put, we deliver insights that help Canada’s leaders cut through the noise and make informed decisions.

We’re looking for a dynamic and results-oriented Director of Sales and Business Development to lead our Sales team, responsible for inFact research subscriptions, executive councils, as well as our subscriber account management. This is a high-impact role responsible for driving revenue growth and scaling our sales practice.

Our Ideal Candidate is… a dynamic, results-driven leader with a strong track record of scaling and optimizing subscription-based or membership sales teams. They bring extensive sales leadership experience, demonstrated success in driving revenue growth, and the ability to develop and implement effective sales strategies. Known for fostering high-performing teams, they thrive in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments.

We are a virtual organization and as a remote worker you must be comfortable and able to work 100 per cent of the time from a home office in Canada. To be successful as a remote worker you need to have a self-starter attitude, possess strong organizational and time management skills and be a proactive communicator. Having a home office environment that provides for a productive, professional, and safe work environment during regular working / business hours is a requirement of this role.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities :

  • Strategic Leadership : Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve revenue and growth targets across subscription and council sales.
  • Team Leadership : Manage, mentor, and inspire a high-performing sales and account management team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Grow and Scale Subscriptions through Acquisition : Drive the expansion of our subscription-based offerings by optimizing sales processes, identifying new market opportunities, and leveraging technology to scale acquisition effectively.
  • Account Management Oversight : Ensure exceptional service and retention rates by guiding the account management team to nurture and grow existing client relationships.
  • Performance Metrics : Monitor, analyze, and report on sales performance, utilizing KPIs to identify trends and make data-driven decisions.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration : Work closely with marketing, digital, research and product development teams to align sales strategies with organizational objectives.

About You

Required Skills and Qualifications :

  • Experience : 5+ years of sales leadership experience, with a proven track record of scaling subscription-based or membership sales teams.
  • Leadership Skills : Demonstrated ability to lead and develop large, diverse teams in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Business Acumen : Deep understanding of B2B sales, subscription models, and account management best practices.
  • Strategic Vision : Ability to think strategically and execute tactically, balancing immediate priorities with long-term objectives.
  • Data-Driven Approach : Strong analytical skills with proficiency in leveraging sales tools and CRM platforms to drive insights and performance.
  • Dynamic Presence : Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with a passion for driving results.
  • Benefits

  • Virtual First – work from home anywhere across Canada with a budget to set up your home office.
  • A workplace where your hard work is not just valued, but actively celebrated. We take pride in our commitment to recognizing and rewarding the exceptional talent that drives our success through our Recognition programs.
  • Healthcare benefits from Day One to support your physical and mental wellbeing, including a $2,500 benefit for Psychologist, Social Worker or Psychotherapist services.
  • Work / Life Balance : In addition to 20 days annual vacation, we close between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, observe 13 holidays per year and offer Friday afternoon closures.
  • A modern, defined benefit (DB) pension plan : We care about your future and offer a pension plan with a 5% match from Day One.

  • At the Conference Board of Canada, we are more than an organization – we are a collective of thinkers, analysts, and problem solvers. As part of our remote workforce, you will play a crucial role in navigating the complexities of Canada’s economic landscape. Your expertise can lead the way in understanding and anticipating the nation’s economic trends. If you’re ready to make an impact where insights meet innovation, we want to hear from you.
