Are you interested in policy development? The Manager, Corporate Policy, with Environment and Climate Change, may be for you. This position is responsible for providing the management and oversight from a corporate policy perspective, in the development, review, and amendment of policies, standards, practices, and procedures, and esures policy and plans conform to Executive Council, Financial Management Board, and Departmental directions. This position reports to the Director, Policy, Legislation, Evaluation and Communications and has an opportunity to lead a team that provides expert advice and analysis on policy and various intergovernmental matters to Departmental senior management, the Minister and Cabinet. This position has the ability to collaborate on innovative policy and strategic initiatives and plays an integral role in ensuring the Department's policies and programs are current and well-aligned with governmental priorities.
This position requires some of the following knowledge, skills and abilities :
- Knowledge of northern institutions, government systems and communities, as well as the ability to interact with Federal and GNWT departments, Indigenous government and Indigenous organizations, and community governments
- Ability to formulate innovative and adaptive policy-based solutions, as there may be few precedents available to guide policy proposals
- Strong organizational, project management, analytical, research and supervisory skills
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by :
Completion of a bachelor’s degree in resource management, environmental studies, political science, or a related field, along with at least five (5) years in experience in policy, planning or analysis, two (2) years of management experience and two (2) years of experience with aspects of self-government and intergovernmental initiatives.
