Description de poste

Are you looking to start a new life in a coastal community in Canada? The Macklan Group of Companies might be looking for you! We are looking for someone with deep experience in timber construction who can bridge the design and digital fabrication worlds, someone who understands timber not just as a material, but as a system. You will help lead our growing mass timber and offsite manufacturing operations, bringing European expertise to North American projects.

Tasks

  • Lead the engineering design and detailing of mass timber (glulam, CLT, LVL) structures from concept through construction.
  • Execute modeling, structural analysis, and design verification for timber components and full systems.
  • Design a wide variety of building types including industrial halls, multifamily buildings, single-family housing, and innovative system-built structures.
  • Develop comprehensive engineering calculation packages and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with design and drafting teams to generate submittals, shop drawings, and machine-ready production files.
  • Interface directly with CNC machinery (e.g., Hundegger Robot Drive, Turbo Drive, PBA) for precise prefabrication.
  • Utilize CADwork and / or hsbcad with BIM tools such as Revit to streamline production workflows.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, internal production, and site assembly teams to ensure efficient execution.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in offsite manufacturing, quality, and installation methods.

Requirements

  • Degree or advanced diploma in Structural Engineering or Timber Construction Technology from a recognized technical university or trade school in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, or Finland.
  • 10+ years of experience in timber engineering or timber frame construction.
  • Deep knowledge of mass timber systems and modern structural detailing.
  • Proficiency in CADwork and / or hsbcad, with experience generating files for CNC machine fabrication.
  • Prior experience with industrial, multifamily, or modular building systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong English communication skills and ability to work effectively within an international team.
  • Benefits

Salary is based on experience. Medical and dental benefits, RRSP matching, paid volunteer time, vacation time, paid time off and other benefits.

    All applications are strictly confidential.
