Maintenance Planner

Job Summary

The Maintenance Planner’s role is essential to the seamless, safe running of Arbec Forest Products Miramichi OSB Division. The Planner will be creating and maintaining the preventative and annual maintenance program. The Planner will be an Analytical thinker who has the ability to communicate on multiple levels and to able to explain the why, along with the how.

  • Organization - Able to create or maintain processes to ensure all relevant information or tools are easily accessible.
  • Resourceful – Good understanding of Mechanical and Engineering concepts
  • Time Management - Balances a myriad of tasks; prioritizes duties as needed.

Job Duties

  • Maintain maintenance and equipment records, and generate reports regarding equipment history, previous work orders, labour utilization.
  • Create and assign bi-weekly and annual shutdown plans in collaboration with various departments to ensure proper collection of information for materials, estimates, planning, work orders, job lists, contractors, lockout procedures, etc.
  • Own the CMMS, work directly with the Stores Department for inventory management
  • Schedule, and lead Shutdown planning meetings.
  • Work with Maintenance Supervisors to review, adjust the maintenance program to increase mill utilization and / or decrease costs.
  • Prepare Job plans for maintenance work in the mill with safety instruction, special precautions as part of those plans in standardize business format.
  • Plan for major maintenance and project work.
  • Job Requirements

  • Previous planning experience
  • Engineering background, preferably in mechanical field
  • Understanding and experience with a CMMS a must.
  • Work orders, preventative maintenance, equipment records purchasing; parts and materials historical cost analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • Analytical skills necessary to streamline large volume of information and computer data while preserving relevant historical information
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and MMS.
  • Lean Six Sigma training, and / or a strong understanding of process improvement a definite asset.
  • Work Conditions

  • Exposure to hazards associated with the industry / trade
  • Use of required personal protective equipment
  • Is physically able to safely perform all functions of the position including but not limited to : walk through an industrial plant, climb stairs, climb ladders, can be exposed to heights and confined spaces, wear standard PPE and carry objects of less than 40 lbs.
