Canadian North is a vital air service provider for the Canadian Arctic and an industry-leading charter carrier with a mission to enhance life in the communities it serves. It provides passenger and cargo services to 25 northern communities, connecting them with major southern hubs in Ottawa, Montreal, and Edmonton. Committed to cultural inclusivity and community investment, Canadian North prioritizes innovation, teamwork, and the well-being of northern communities. It supports its people and connects northern Canada with the world through reliable air travel and cargo services. Trusted for its reliability and safety, Canadian North is valued for fostering prosperity and community growth while being a place where people want to build their careers.

To continue its commitment to operational excellence and regulatory compliance, Canadian North is seeking a Vice President, Maintenance and Engineering to join its senior executive team. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Vice President, Maintenance and Engineering will shape and implement the strategic vision for Maintenance and Engineering. Key responsibilities include driving fleet maintenance strategy, ensuring compliance with Transport Canada regulations, optimizing fleet availability, and fostering a culture of safety, reliability, and quality. The role also involves managing vendor relationships, leading procurement negotiations, and building partnerships with manufacturers and regulatory bodies. Collaboration with operational leaders, the Board of Directors, and various stakeholders is essential.

The ideal candidate is a visionary, results-driven leader with a strong focus on operational excellence, safety, and regulatory compliance. You excel in building high-performing teams, fostering collaboration, and inspiring innovation in a complex, regulated environment. With deep expertise in Transport Canada regulations, fleet management, and quality assurance, you drive initiatives that align with Canadian North’s mission of “one unified Canadian North.” You also bring a commitment to inclusivity and cultural awareness, engaging with the unique needs of northern communities. With a proven track record in strategic planning, fleet acquisition, and operational efficiency, you offer a forward-thinking approach to fleet maintenance and engineering. Eligibility to be designated as the Person Responsible for Maintenance by Transport Canada is required.

The position requires at least 15 years of experience in aviation maintenance and engineering, with a minimum of 10 years in senior leadership roles overseeing complex operations and regulatory compliance. A degree in Engineering, Aviation Management, Business, or a related field is essential, with an advanced degree preferred. Recognized aviation or engineering certifications relevant to maintenance are considered an asset. Expertise in Transport Canada regulations and quality assurance within regulated aviation environments is critical, along with demonstrated experience in fleet acquisition, asset management, and operational efficiency. A strong commitment to maintaining rigorous safety and quality standards is essential for success in this role.

This is a unique opportunity to lead and innovate while making a meaningful impact on northern communities.
