Our goal is to become the world's best Artificial Intelligence Lab for insurance, and our team uses these skills to develop risk models that reflect climate change. As a member of the Lab, you'll be surrounded by a diverse team of experts with varied backgrounds, including developers, engineers and data scientists, who are transforming the insurance experience of millions of Canadians. You'll be part of the Climate Change team, where you'll work on exciting projects to help Intact and its customers better prepare for and adapt to extreme weather events.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team specializing in data science, engineering, climate and geomatics. We're looking for people with diverse backgrounds in software development, engineering or data science, capable of imagining innovative solutions from data and implementing them. Your mandate will be to develop and deploy innovative products to anticipate and mitigate the impacts of climate change. This position offers many opportunities for learning and growth within a dynamic and committed team.
Work location : Montreal (, Robert-Bourassa) or Quebec City (, Boul des Galeries).
What you'll do here :
Develop innovative solutions to assess the risk associated with extreme events such as forest fires or floods.
Develop, test and maintain software infrastructures used to develop solutions.
Transform complex databases into relevant conclusions and recommendations.
Keep abreast of new approaches and trends, and utilize them with solutions of your own.
Help maintain our data mining tools and platforms.
Make concrete recommendations based on findings.
Work with other departments to promote the adoption of analytical principles within the organization.
Validate the quality of the analytical approach and project results of other team members.
What you bring to the table :
Great knowledge of computer science and CI / CD practices.
Competence in a relevant discipline (geomatics, mathematics, engineering, operations research, statistics and AI ), or any combination of equivalent training and experience.
At least 7 years' experience in the field of artificial intelligence.
Relevant cross-platform production experience with the following commercial and open source data mining frameworks : AWS environment, Python, PostgreSQL, PostGIS, GitHub.
Expert-level understanding of underlying machine learning theory.
Enthusiasm for teamwork.
Ability to focus on loosely defined questions requiring the application of creative approaches.
Strong communication, time management and organizational skills.
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
Bilingualism required (FR and ANG) - Need to interact with colleagues across Canada.
