We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Trailer Mechanic to join our maintenance team in Surrey, BC. What We Offer Competitive wages ranging from $30.00 to $38.00 per hour, with higher compensation considered based on experience, certifications, and skill level Employer-paid benefits package Employer-matched RRSP program up to 3% Annual tool allowance up to $600 Annual boot allowance up to $145 Rotating on-call availability bonus of $75 per week Four-day work week consisting of 10-hour shifts Opportunities for overtime Stable, year-round work Supportive team environment Apprenticeship opportunities for individuals committed to obtaining their certification Ongoing training and career development opportunities Weekend availability and scheduling flexibility are highly valued and can provide opportunities for additional hours and earnings. Qualifications Required Valid BC Trailer Mechanic certification, Red Seal Certification, CVSE/CVIP Certification, or a combination of these credentials Strong diagnostic and repair experience on commercial trailers High school diploma or equivalent Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship Assets Red Seal Endorsement CVSE/CVIP Certification Experience working with refrigerated trailers (reefers) Welding and fabrication experience Experience with fleet maintenance software Not fully certified yet? If you have relevant experience and are committed to becoming certified, XTL Transport may discuss apprenticeship and development opportunities with suitable candidates who demonstrate a strong work ethic and willingness to grow within the organization. Key Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair commercial trailers and related systems Troubleshoot electrical, brake, suspension, landing gear, and air systems Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections Complete and maintain CVIP inspections and maintenance records Diagnose and repair refrigeration-related trailer components where applicable Repair body damage and replace trailer components as required Maintain accurate repair records using computer software Monitor and manage shop inventory as required Maintain company equipment and tools in safe working condition Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections Report safety concerns and repair requirements to the Shop Supervisor Follow all company safety policies and procedures Maintain professional and respectful communication with drivers, supervisors, and team members Equipment You'll Work On Dry Van Trailers Refrigerated (Reefer) Trailers Coupling and Hitch Systems Tires, Wheels, Hubs, and Axles Brake and Suspension Systems Electrical Systems Heating and Refrigeration Systems You will work with a well-maintained fleet of more than 200 trailers, providing a diverse and challenging work environment.
