Our client, is seeking an experienced, hands-on Business Intelligence & Application Developer to lead the technical architecture, development, and expansion of a production R/Shiny web application alongside executive-level reporting suites.

In this full-stack engineering role, you will take direct ownership of the technology portfolio analytics ecosystem—moving beyond basic script maintenance to drive end-to-end architecture decisions independently. Operating as a principal developer, you will extend features, refactor reactive architectures for scale, containerize microservices, build robust data pipelines, and integrate AI-assisted automation workflows across cloud data platforms (Azure, Databricks, Fabric). This role is ideal for a full-stack analytics engineer who pairs an absolute command of R/Shiny, SQL, and Python with modern software engineering discipline (Git, CI/CD, Docker, Terraform) and an eye for polished user experiences.

Duration: 8-Month Contract (with high potential for extension)

Work Arrangement: 1-2 days/ week in the office

Responsibilities
R/Shiny & Full-Stack Application Development
End-to-End Application Architecture: Own the full-lifecycle architecture, expansion, and refactoring of a production-grade R/Shiny web application, optimizing performance for growing datasets and concurrent users.

Modular Code & UX Engineering: Design modular, reusable Shiny components (reactive architectures, custom UI/JS integrations), leveraging front-end sensibilities (React or equivalent) to elevate user experience beyond native component limits.

Software Engineering Practice: Implement software delivery standards including Git version control, CI/CD automation, unit testing, code reviews, and containerization using Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.

API & Security Integration: Integrate web applications with backend databases, RESTful APIs, and enterprise authentication/security layers.

Data Architecture, Analytics & Semantic Modeling
Data Pipeline & Model Engineering: Design data models, integration patterns, and standardized pipelines across cloud platforms (Azure, Databricks, Fabric, Postgres).

Business Intelligence & DAX: Develop robust semantic layers, complex DAX measures, and executive-level Power BI dashboards, establishing a unified source of truth.

Data Quality Governance: Detect, investigate, and reconcile data quality anomalies across disparate source systems before they impact core enterprise KPIs.

Workflow Automation & Applied AI
Process Automation: Build end-to-end automated operational workflows using Python, Power Platform, Power Automate, Copilot Studio, and orchestration frameworks (Airflow, GitHub Actions).

AI & Machine Learning Integration: Implement durable AI and machine learning models (forecasting, anomaly detection, clustering) into daily analytics, driving user adoption while adhering to responsible AI governance.



Qualifications

Application Development (R & Shiny): Demonstrated hands-on experience architecting, scaling, and maintaining complex production R/Shiny web applications.

Software Engineering Fundamentals: Solid command of software development practices, including Git, CI/CD, modular code design, debugging, and testing.

Infrastructure & Containerization: Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform for application deployment and infrastructure management.

Data Querying & Scripting Languages: High proficiency in SQL, Python, and DAX.

Cloud & Modern Data Platforms: Hands-on experience across the Microsoft Azure ecosystem (Databricks, Fabric), with exposure to additional cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Postgres) considered a strong plus.

BI & Reporting Mastery: Advanced Power BI development expertise, including administration, semantic modeling, security protocols, and executive dashboard delivery.

Applied AI & Automation: Proven experience constructing AI-powered workflow tools and automated data pipelines.

Soft Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; a self-directed problem solver who can independently clarify ambiguous business needs into structured technical solutions.
