The Role

Job Title: Supply Chain Buyer - Full-time Temporary Contract

Contract Length: Starting immediately and ending December 31, 2026
Department: ProcurementLocation: Edmonton, ABReporting To: Senior Manager, Procurement

As a Supply Chain Buyer, you will play an important role in supporting BBE’s operations and customer commitments. This full-time, temporary contract position is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the supply of materials, products, and services required to support company operations. This role works closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure goods are purchased at the best value while meeting quality, delivery, and operational requirements. The Supply Chain Buyer plays a key role in building supplier relationships and supporting continuous improvement within the supply chain. This role breaks down as follows:

  • Procurement: 30%
  • Customer Service: 10%
  • Sourcing/Quoting: 30%
  • Logistics: 30%

What You’ll Do

  • Purchasing goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Bid evaluation and preparation of quotes for the customers.
  • Assist with researching and evaluating opportunities to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance, and work towards a continuous improvement strategy.
  • Support in negotiating improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings by following best procurement practices, tools, and methods.
  • Assist with evaluating suppliers and managing performance improvement activities.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

What Success Looks Like

In this role, you will:

  • Maintain uninterrupted supply by ensuring materials and products are available when needed.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers that result in reliable service, competitive pricing, and high-quality products.
  • Identifying and implementing cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or operational requirements.
  • Delivering purchase orders accurately and on time while maintaining a close level of attention to detail.
  • Anticipating supply chain risks and proactively developing solutions before they impact operations.
  • Partnering effectively with Operations, Warehouse, Finance and other departments to understand business needs and provide responsive procurement support.
  • Using data and reporting to drive informed purchasing decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrating sound business judgement, accountability, and integrity in all procurement activities.
  • Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement by streamlining purchasing processes, improving supplier performance, and increasing operational efficiency.

What You Bring

  • University or Technical school degree in commerce, supply chain, or other relevant discipline preferred.
  • 6-10 years of experience in sourcing, purchasing, and managing suppliers.
  • Product knowledge of categories such as industrial MRO, construction, electrical, and lubricants is an asset.
  • Proficiency with ERP, Business Central or Dynamics 365 preferred.
  • Professional approach to vendor and customer relationship management.
  • Project management knowledge preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional written/verbal communication skills.
