Description de posteMinimum of 2 years of active farming experience Field and bed preparation (fertilizing, raking, etc.) Transplanting and seeding Weed control (hoeing, wheel hoeing, hand weeding etc.) Working with small machinery (small tractor, wiper sniper and tiller) General farm maintenance (fixing, building, painting etc.) Management skills Work well under stress Hardworking Efficient Strong communication skills Good physical condition Independent and self-directed Motivated to get better at tasks and find the best way to do something Passionate about sustainable agriculture and food Aware of what’s happening around and mindful of farm systems while carrying out tasks Attention to detail Full time position 2 year commitment Starting as soon as possible Monday-Friday and occasional weekends As the current owners are selling the farm, the new owner (as of Jan 2025) is seeking a farm manager to run the farm in the long run. The current owners are willing to train the farm manager about how the operation is run currently Opportunity to build up a farm operation under new ownership with farm managers input and ideas. ORGANIC FARMING
Looking for field and greenhouse manager for the rest of the 2024 season and for 2025 and beyond to manage the complete farm operation from seed to sale. The farm is transitioning to a new owner at the end of the year (the current owners will stay on the farm till summer 2025)
Job Description :
The Farm manager will be responsible for the day to day managing of the workers, as well as doing all the planning for the production.
- Crop planning (crop rotation, field usage, timing)
- Seeding (order seeds, make seed / planting schedule, prepare seedings, use different seeding techniques)
- Field preparation (use of tractor and different implements, know when and how to use, fertility)
- Management (manage farm workers and day to day work schedule)
- Monitor field crops (health, harvest times, yields)
- Watering (set up irrigation and repairs, knowledge about when and how to water)
- General farm work (working alongside workers)
- Harvest management (know when and how to harvest crops and storage)

25 / hr (negotiable depending on experience); generally 40hr weeks
