The Great Bear project is a development-stage asset located in the renowned and prolific Red Lake mining district, and represents one of the most exciting recent gold discoveries globally. The project has excellent potential to become a top-tier deposit that could support a large, long-life mine complex. Kinross’ comprehensive exploration and development program will aim to support the vision of a quality, high-grade, open-pit mine and a longer-term, sizeable underground mine.

Job Summary

This position plays a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, organized, and compliant site access program during all phases of construction.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Verify that all personnel have completed the required site access documentation, training, orientations, and approvals before arriving on site.
  • Review and verify required training records, including site induction, WHMIS, Ministry of Labour training, contractor-specific requirements, and any other project or regulatory training.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date access records, including training certificates, onboarding documents, access approvals, visitor logs, and badge status.
  • Manage the issuance, tracking, renewal, deactivation, and retrieval of site access badges.
  • Coordinate with Security to ensure only approved personnel are permitted access to the site.
  • Support contractor onboarding by communicating site access requirements, timelines, and deficiencies to contractor representatives and site contacts.
  • Monitor outstanding access requirements and follow up with contractors, employees, and supervisors to ensure timely completion.
  • Manage daily, weekly, and monthly site access reports, including access status, outstanding training, contractor compliance, and badge activity.

.

  • Identify and escalate access issues, non-compliance, missing documentation, or urgent concerns to the appropriate supervisor or department.
  • Manage visitor access by confirming approvals, arranging orientation requirements, maintaining visitor logs, and ensuring visitors are properly escorted where required.
  • Coordinate site induction programs, orientations, and access-related training sessions.
  • Maintain the site access tracking systems and ensure information is entered accurately and consistently.
  • Coordinate with Health and Safety, Security, Human Resources, Construction Management, Contractor Management, and site leadership to support safe and efficient site access.
  • Lead audits of contractor training records, access documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Support emergency preparedness by maintaining accurate site access information that may be used for emergency response, muster, and personnel accountability.
  • Ensure access records are organized, current, and available for review when required.

.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all employees, contractor, visitor, and company information.
  • Develop and improve site access procedures, forms, tracking tools, and reporting processes.
  • Communicate access requirements clearly and professionally to all site personnel and external stakeholders.
  • Provide support and guidance to workers, visitors, and contractor representatives regarding site access questions or concerns.
  • Support contractor mobilization and demobilization by ensuring access requirements are completed before workers arrive on site.
  • Track contractor workforce numbers and provide updates to site leadership as required.
  • Maintain active list of approved personnel for gatehouse and security use.
  • Coordinate access changes for workers moving between work areas, shifts, or scopes of work.
  • Support access control for high-risk, restricted, or controlled work areas where additional approvals may be required.
  • Manage temporary access for short term visitors, delivery drivers, inspectors, consultants, and vendors.
  • Communicate upcoming training deadlines and access requirement changes to contractors and internal teams.
  • Support continuous improvement of the site access process as the construction project grows, and the work scope changes.
  • Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation, and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident-free.
  • Support a work environment that is aligned with Kinross’ Safeground principles.
  • Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Adhere to all relevant Great Bear policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
