As one of the largest Business schools in British Columbia, the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration is a leader in practical and applied business education and training, and is committed to interdisciplinary, experiential, international and research activities. As one of six academic Faculties, Commerce and Business Administration plays a critical role in advancing the College’s strategic objectives. There are currently 4,760 students and 205 faculty within the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration.
ABOUT THE ROLE :
Reporting to the Vice President, Academic and Provost, the Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration provides academic and strategic leadership to the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration and is responsible for planning, developing, promoting and evaluating the effectiveness of the Faculty’s academic and continuing education programs. As a senior member of the Academic Division, the Dean works closely with the Vice President, Academic and Provost to further the initiatives in the College’s Strategic Plan and with the Faculty to develop and implement initiatives in accordance with the Faculty’s Operational Plans. The Dean plays an instrumental role in fostering a supportive environment for both faculty and staff to maintain the highest quality of service for students, encourage superior standards of course instruction and promote excellence in academic scholarship.
This is an excellent opportunity for an innovative and collaborative leader with a demonstrated understanding of applied business education. The preferred candidate will have a graduate degree within a relevant field or discipline, with at least five years of leadership experience in post-secondary academic administration, including strategic planning, administrative operations, and team leadership. In addition, the preferred candidate will have a track record of teaching with knowledge of program development. The role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. An equivalent and / or related combination of education and experience will be considered.
