Instrumentation Designer

TWD is currently seeking an Instrumentation Designer to support our office in Burlington, ON!

As a diverse and rapidly growing organization, TWD is a leading organization in the oil and gas industry with expertise ranging from refinery, pipelines, terminalling and blending, renewables, food and beverage, power, and much more.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Create detailed brown and green field wiring diagrams including : control panels, Junction Boxes, Marshalling stations, field termination details, cable trays, conduits design and cable schedules
  • Generating a detailed bill of materials for all components used all in compliance with CSA Electric code 22.1
  • Design and develop instrumentation and control systems
  • Design automation systems including PLC, DCS and communication networks
  • Prepare instrument and control system layout drawings, installation drawings, loop diagrams, logic diagrams, specification sheets, panel layout, instrument index, cause & effect matrices, etc.
  • Specify instruments and final control devices
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

  • Technical diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in Electrical Design / Drafting.
  • 7-12 years relevant electrical CAD experience (previous experience in design drafting or equivalent educational experience using CAD computer systems)
  • Expert in Control system and field wiring. Expert in CSA electrical code. Expert in AutoCAD.
  • Expert in instrument specifying, sizing and selection.
  • Control system programming is a plus but not required
  • Experience with construction site, ability to perform site inspection and work closely with contractor during constructions.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skill. Commitment and enthusiasm for learning. Able to work and communicate in a team environment.
