DNV Energy Systems Solar Independent Engineer, Distributed Generation is  looking for a fantastic Project Manager to join our diverse and dynamic team as we continue to lead the energy transition and broaden access to solar + storage energy for all by offering assurance services that enable developers, financiers and tax equity investors to safely and reliably scale their businesses in the rapidly evolving and growing distributed generation solar and storage segment. In this role, you will work on a variety of solar + storage projects throughout North America. You will be exposed to the entire project life cycle, work with the biggest developers and financiers in the space with cutting edge technology.  The primary functions of this position include supporting major customer accounts, performing project due diligence, managing projects, contributing to process improvements, sharing knowledge, obtaining and receiving feedback, and a bit of business development including developing proposals.

This position is based out of San Diego CA, Portland OR, Oakland CA, Seattle WA, Austin TX, Chalfont PA, Medford, MA, Montreal, CA, Toronto, CA, or remote locations

What You'll Do

  • Initiating and coordinating the technical review process among internal specialists including civil and electrical engineering, energy assessment, technology, and permitting teams, and synthesizing and writing due diligence reports
  • Performing overall project management activities and ensuring excellent customer communication as the key point of contact for the execution of due diligence engagements
  • Performing portions of due diligence reviews, including contract and financial model reviews, and synthesis of inputs from technical disciplines, as well as other reviews and analysis within the candidate's expertise
  • Discussing and resolving technical issues with project developers, lenders, and investors, including coordinating input on such issues from internal technical specialists
  • Developing and winning proposals for scopes of services related to due diligence work
  • Coordinating or performing DNV construction monitoring and site visit activities
  • Supporting customers through the financial closings of projects
  • Participating in continuous improvement efforts including leading tool development, process refinement, digitization efforts, and lessons learned activities
  • Discussing and resolving challenging technical issues

Position Qualifications

What is Required

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, science, business, energy, or other related field is required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the solar industry
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and deft project and time management skills, including an ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
  • Fluent in MS Office
  • Solution oriented thinking skills and high integrity
  • Basic understanding energy industry technology (modules, inverters, mounting systems / trackers, balance of system, etc)
  • General working knowledge of the solar project financing process (direct experience preferred)
  • Supportive and proactive team member, eager to work in a collaborative environment
  • Proven HSE mindset and demonstrated behaviour-based safety mentality

  • What is Preferred

  • Master's degree
  • Some concentration of experience in at least one of the following : solar industry construction and operating contracts, solar project construction, operations / asset management, solar project design / development, module / inverter technology, energy assessment, power marketing / offtake contracting, energy storage technology and implementation, or in the independent engineering function
  • Exposure to contracts (construction, supply, operations, interconnection, offtake, subscription, and / or asset management contracts); familiarity with budgets and financial models
  • Working knowledge of PVsyst and solar energy assessment
  • Working knowledge of relevant National Electric Code sections
  • Industry thought leadership experience
  • Familiarity with energy storage systems

  • As required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act and New York City Salary Transparency Law, DNV provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado or New York City. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado and New York City, NY only, the range of starting pay for this role is $90,000 -$135,000
