Gat Leedm Logistics has an immediate opening for a full-time Class 1 Driver (Day and Night Shift) based in Prince Rupert, BC. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, timely, and professional transportation of goods throughout Prince Rupert and the surrounding areas. The successful candidate will operate tractor-trailer units during overnight shifts, ensuring freight is delivered efficiently while maintaining high safety and compliance standards.
The Candidate
- Safely operate Class 1 tractor-trailer units during scheduled night shifts.
- Transport freight in accordance with delivery schedules and customer requirements.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain accurate logbooks.
- Ensure cargo is properly secured and compliant with load safety regulations.
- Complete required documentation, including bills of lading, inspection reports, and daily logs.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding routes, delivery timelines, and any issues.
- Report mechanical issues promptly and coordinate with maintenance as required.
- Adhere strictly to federal and provincial transportation regulations (including NSC standards).
- Maintain cleanliness and professional presentation of the assigned vehicle.
- Represent Gat Leedm Logistics in a professional and courteous manner with customers and partners.
- Respond appropriately to unforeseen changes, weather conditions, or operational demands.
- Track and report hours of work accurately and in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties within the scope of the position as assigned.
Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities
- Valid Class 1 Driver’s License (British Columbia) in good standing.
- Minimum 2–3 years of commercial driving experience preferred.
- Clean Driver’s Abstract.
- Knowledge of Prince Rupert port operations and regional routes is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to operate safely in nighttime and adverse weather conditions.
- Strong knowledge of load securement practices and transportation regulations.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks as required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Punctual, dependable, and able to work independently.
- High level of integrity and strong work ethic.
- WHMIS certification and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification are considered assets.
Working Conditions
- Day and Night shift schedule.
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Extended periods of sitting and driving.
- Occasional loading and unloading of freight.
