The Family Support Practitioner (FSP) is responsible for providing para-professional support services to assist child welfare staff in meeting the needs of clients and supporting initiatives to keep children with their families and / or enhance family reunification. The FSP supervises family visits; assesses and provides feedback on family interactions; provides information on and assists with accessing community resources; and assists with any other task that helps a family address identified concerns. Scheduling duties also required.

Knowledge and Skills Required :

• Ability to model practical parenting skills while providing effective feedback.
• Strong assessment skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to support Agency initiatives to keep children with their families and / or enhance family reunification.
• Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation, and agency policies and procedures.
• Proficient in computer software applications including MS Office, and database programs
• Experience in scheduling.
