Be part of this transformative journey and help us create a lasting impact for generations to come. The Communications Systems Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all field execution related to communications and low-voltage infrastructure. Working closely with the project team, this role ensures work is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contractual, quality, and regulatory requirements. The Superintendent oversees telecommunications infrastructure, network cabling, fiber optics, radio systems, security systems, and other communications-related installations while providing strong leadership to crews, subcontractors, and field supervision.

Main Responsibilities

  • Direct day-to-day field operations for communications systems construction, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and to approved specifications.
  • Coordinate and execute work in accordance with engineering drawings, approved submittals, and project requirements.

  • Maintain a consistent on-site presence to monitor progress, manage issues, and support field execution.
  • Complete daily field reports and maintain accurate documentation using project control systems.
  • Take all necessary steps to maintain a safe working environment and ensure the safety integrity of all activities undertaken by crews and subcontractors.
  • Lead and actively participate in safety programs including inspections, onboarding, hazard assessments (JHA / FLHA / SWP), near-miss reporting, and incident investigations.
  • Assist in the investigation of accidents and incidents to determine root cause and preventative measures.
  • Maintain accountability for safety performance within the assigned scope of work.
  • Oversee installation quality and ensure all work complies with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Identify, report, and track non-conformances, coordinating corrective actions with Field Engineers or management as required.
  • Promote environmental stewardship by integrating environmental controls into work; assist in developing and managing budgets, cost estimates, and efficiency analyses.
  • Coordinate material procurement, equipment logistics, and site readiness for specialized communications system installations.
  • Establish crew productivity targets and expected hours for specific tasks, managing shift durations and implementing controls to prevent overruns.
  • Review and approve timesheets, ensuring alignment between hours worked and work completed.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach multiple crews, foremen, and subcontractors across active work fronts or simultaneous sites.
  • Foster strong, professional relationships with clients, inspectors, and internal stakeholders to support project success.
  • Provide clear, timely updates on progress, risks, and changes to management and project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with field coordination teams to schedule and support survey, concrete, quality, safety, and environmental inspections.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to the project team as required.
