Our Provincial Government client, is seeking a BI Developer to join their team! Key Details :

Contract Length : ASAP start until March 31st, 2025.
Hours : 7.25 hours / day
Location : HYBRID – 3 days / week onsite in Toronto, ON.

Roles and Responsibilities :

Required to translate technical systems specifications into working, tested applications. This includes : developing detailed programming specifications writing and / or generating code compiling data-driven programs, maintaining, and conducting unit tests.

Resolves and troubleshoots technical problems which arise during the use and operation of software packages, including technical assistance in implementation, conversion and migrations.

General Skills :

Proficiency in programming, analysis, and specialized software support.

Collaboration with IT professionals throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Experience in structured methodologies for application development and maintenance.

Designing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting applications.

Knowledge of object-oriented or third-generation language development tools.

Familiarity with various programming languages and application design patterns.

Understanding of relational and hierarchical database technologies.

Competency in information retrieval and query languages.

Experience with communication protocols.

Ability to gather and document information from diverse stakeholders.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Track record of meeting deadlines as a team player.

Desirable Skills :

Development of Internet-ready applications and rapid application development (RAD) methodologies.

Understanding of Information Management principles and middleware.

Proficiency in reviewing and modifying installation scripts.

Post-implementation support and issue resolution experience.

Conducting design walkthrough sessions and creating user / system documentation.

Development Skills :

Extensive experience with Oracle SQL, Spark SQL, and complex SQL queries.

Over 10 years of data analysis and business intelligence development.

Proficiency in Power BI, DAX, and Azure BI tools (Databricks, Delta Lake, Azure Storage, ADF, Analysis Service).

Designing dynamic BI visualizations and dashboards based on business requirements.

Implementing, maintaining, and supporting BI solutions across platforms.

Curating data from multiple sources for enterprise-level presentations.

Recommending process improvements for data flow and quality.

Staying updated on relevant technology developments for BI initiatives.

Ownership of end-to-end development of dashboards and reports.

Technology Skills :

Experience with Azure cloud platform and migration.

Proficiency in Microsoft Azure data analytics tools (Data Factories, Databricks, Synapse).

Expertise in advanced analytics, including machine learning and fraud detection.

Self-motivated and adaptable, capable of working independently and in teams.

Managing Power BI workspaces, report access, and deployment.

Strong knowledge of data modeling and complex SQL query writing.

Troubleshooting and resolving BI reporting issues effectively.
