Steel Stud Framer-Carpentry

Overview

Position : Full-time, Permanent and non-seasonal

Number of positions available : 1

Work Hours : 35-40 hours per week

Work Location : In person; various construction sites in Metro Vancouver

Wage rate : CAD $38.00 per hour

Work timings : Early morning, Daytime, Evening, Morning, Night (occasionally).

Position start date : As soon as possible

Minimum Education required : Secondary (high) school graduation

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements;
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools;
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials;
• Instruct & supervise other workers & apprentices;
• Maintain, repair and renovate metal and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other commercial establishments;
• Install exterior and interior steel studs;
• Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings;
• Install door & window frames and other hardware;
• Install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath;
• Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools;
• Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress.
