Our client, a Family Office located in Westmount, is looking for a financial controller who will be responsible for the entire accounting cycle of the company. Position : ControllerLocation : Westmount - Parking providedSalary : 110k-125 + benefitsQualifications and experienceCPA (CA, CGA or CMA) with 5+ years of experienceFund experience is a plus, knowledge of limited partnership accounting and T5013 is a mustReal Estate industry experience is a plusExpert knowledge of excelManagerial experience with demonstrated mentorship of direct reportsFamiliarity with MRI Real Estate software a definite plusFamiliarity with Quickbooks online is a must Structure and Team :  The position will report directly to the Managing Partner.The incumbent will be supported by a consulting Controller, who's position the candidate needs to assume.The incumbent will be supported by a Senior Accountant, 2 junior accountants and a team of 2 real estate accountants. Accounting and OperationsOversee the work of the entire accounting teamManage the finance compliance calendar (DAS, Sales tax, year end)Real Estate accounting : Review the monthly trial balances prepared by the external property accountants, Prepare Adjusting Journal EntriesFund Accounting : Full cycle of accounting for a growing investment fundInquire about the correct booking of complicated JEs related to acquisitions, JVs, tax reorganizationsWire transfers and daily cash managementInternal and external reporting on a quarterly basisPrepare accounting package for external accountant for the Review EngagementReview certain information in the Corporate Tax returns (T2) and provide data to the external preparers of the returns What we offerCompetitive salary & excellent health benefits packageVery generous long term compensation package in the form of co-investment with a match from the family office (after 1 year on the job)Brand new and cool open concept offices in WestmountPaid parkingMentorship with the CFOs of top tier real estate and fund companyDecentralized decision making : All the key decision makers are in the office daily; transformational decisions take a few hours to make as opposed to days and months
