Job Summary
Our client, a full‑scope contractor specializing in drilling / blasting and related services, is seeking a Controller to join their team. The role is based at the client’s office in Chilliwack, BC, working a minimum of 4 days per week. Reporting to the Corporate Controller (who also functions as COO of all administration), the Controller will manage day‑to‑day financial operations, lead a team of 7 accountants and clerks, and oversee financial control for two separate businesses. The position requires strong accounting acumen and experience in construction, agriculture or manufacturing.
Base Pay Range
CA$100,000.00 / yr – CA$140,000.00 / yr
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and account reconciliation.
- Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans to support organizational objectives.
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and reports for management review.
- Manage inter‑company transactions and oversee monthly and quarterly closeouts.
- Conduct account analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies related to financial reporting.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights that drive decision‑making.
- Manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure smooth audits and compliance.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Utilize accounting software such as Sage, Power BI or similar tools to streamline processes.
Qualifications
