Minimum Requirements
Candidates must be a family member of a current Suncor / Syncrude employee
A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) or 10+ years of work experience
Have a valid full Class 5 Drivers License at time of application (cannot be the graduated drivers’ license GDL). If you currently have a GDL, please review this link :
Must currently reside within the RMWB
If you have experience operating equipment, please highlight that in your resume and you may have an opportunity to interview for our temporary HEO roles
No experience? No problem!
Candidates with no HEO or mining experience are welcome to apply and may be selected to attend a 4-week training program at Keyano College. Above all else, we are looking for enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. If you are chosen for an interview please come prepared to discuss why a career in Heavy Equipment Operating is for you!
Tuition costs are covered, but candidates will not be paid while attending classroom training at Keyano
Upon successful completion of training, candidates may commence a paid, up to 6-month coop at Suncor Base Plant Mine or Syncrude Mildred Lake or Syncrude Aurora Mine. Placements will be determined by the business.

You will work out of our Suncor Base Plant Mine or Syncrude Mildred Lake or Syncrude Aurora Mine in Fort McMurray
The shift schedule is a six days on / six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)
This is not a camp-based or fly in / fly out position
This is a temporary position for up to 6 months
This position is safety sensitive
