Job descriptionJourneyman Ticket (Heavy Duty) Own hand tools Fluent in written and spoken English 2 - 5 years related experience Valid Driver's License (Class 2 or 3 considered an asset) CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License considered an asset Exposure to working on diesel engines Analytical and troubleshooting skills Ability to comprehend / operate diagnostic and manual measuring tools, including micrometers, brake drum gauge, Ohmmeters, and AVR (Amps, Volts & Resistors) Computer proficiency Commensurate with experience Bi-weekly pay period (every second Friday) Employee Benefits Plan (after 3-month probation) Group Registered Retirement Savings (RRSP) Plan (available after 12 months) Annual Tool and Boot Allowance - $700 (pro-rated from start date - available in last quarter of the year, and each subsequent year)
Heavy Duty Mechanic
Location : Medicine Hat, AB
SOUTHLAND is currently seeking a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team of maintenance professionals. This role is responsible for servicing / repairing SOUTHLAND school buses in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. This position is not confined to shop activities as the Mechanic may be required to perform field work on down buses.
Duties
- Ongoing maintenance / repair of buses
- Diagnose equipment problems
- CVIP Inspections
- Respond to breakdowns
- Spring and winter maintenance
- Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs
- Work with shop management to maintain schedules and priorities
- Follow SOUTHLAND procedures and guidelines
