About the Opportunity

This is an exciting chance to join Sandvik as a Mechanical Trades Assistant, where you’ll play a key role in supporting our service technicians with a variety of tasks both in the workshop and on customer sites. You’ll assist with maintenance, repairs, and installations of mechanical equipment, prepare tools and materials, and help ensure work areas are safe and organised.

In addition to hands‑on support, you’ll carry out workshop plant and equipment checks to meet Sandvik’s EHS standards, contributing to a safe and efficient working environment. This role offers exposure to diverse mechanical work and the opportunity to develop your skills alongside experienced tradespeople in a global industry leader.

Responsibilities

  • Assist service technicians with daily tasks, i.e., maintenance execution to OEM best practice, including removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub‑assemblies, components, parts, or systems
  • Assist Sandvik technicians with servicing and installations of Sandvik Fire Suppression systems
  • Prepare, clean, and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas.
  • Handle basic mechanical tasks such as dismantling, cleaning, and reassembling components under supervision.
  • Unload and load freight, unpack store items and place them in required locations.
  • Support loading and unloading heavy equipment and materials.
  • Clean and paint components for repairs or prepare for freight.
  • Transport parts, tools, and materials to and from job sites.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
  • Perform routine checks and report any faults or hazards promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed when required.
  • Work from verbal and written instructions.
  • General housekeeping and maintenance tasks within the workshop environment.

About you

You’re a practical, safety‑conscious individual with a strong interest in mechanical work and a willingness to learn. You enjoy working as part of a team and take pride in supporting qualified tradespeople with a variety of tasks, both in the workshop and on customer sites. You’re reliable, physically fit and comfortable handling tools, equipment and materials, while maintaining a clean and organised work environment.

You have a basic mechanical aptitude, a current driver’s licence and a positive attitude towards taking on new challenges. Attention to detail and a commitment to following safety procedures are second nature to you. Experience in a mechanical or industrial setting is an advantage, and any additional certifications such as forklift, confined space or working at heights will be highly regarded.
