Engine Rebuild Heavy Equipment Technician (Heavy Duty Mechanic) – Off Road HET (2nd or 3rd year apprentice or Journeyperson)

Sureway Construction is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, involved in civil earthworks, grading, utilities, offsite, mine operation, and aggregate extraction.

Job Type : Full Time, Permanent

Schedule : 10+ hours per day (day shift), 5 & 2, OT after 8hr / day or 44hr / week

Location : Shop 9175 – 14 Street NW, Edmonton, AB

Requirements

Full Complement of Hand Tools

Personal Reliable Vehicle

CSA approved steel-toed boots with 6” ankle support

Pre-Employment Screening

Drug and alcohol testing (swab or urine depending on site requirements)

Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation

Fitness to Work Assessment

Qualifications

Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) with Red Seal – Off Road or equivalent

Apprentices in good standing with AIT

Current 3rd Year HDM Apprentice

5–10 years of HET Journeyperson experience

Off Road HDM experience is REQUIRED

Experience with CAT E.T. and S.I.S. and / or Komatsu components is REQUIRED

Experience with CAT Scrapers is Beneficial

Ability to read, troubleshoot and diagnose using hydraulic and electronic schematics

Exceptional organization and cleanliness skills are REQUIRED

Responsibilities

Rebuild CAT and Komatsu engines

Maintain equipment at the highest standards in a timely manner

Conduct performance and quality checks according to procedure

Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and overhauls

Promote and execute the company’s safety program, encouraging a safety culture among all employees, subcontractors and consultants
