JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Director, Continuous Improvement, the Operations Excellence Manager is responsible for the optimization of the warehouse space for approximately 75,000 product SKUs at our 3 distribution facilities. The incumbent will guide the optimization of the space and products by engineering efficiencies and implementing past experiences and best practices. Optimizing our space and operations will be crucial to the business going forward.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing performance, timelines and project progress of Operations Excellence team
  • Managing the optimization of space, and overflow for our finished goods facilities
  • Managing the tracking of data and reviewing information from various data sources in order to effectively plan and direct the workflow of the team.
  • Support development of lean maturity model for packaging and warehouse operations
  • Support short and long-term strategies for future state of business process incorporating Six Sigma, Agile and other best practices
  • Improving process flows, clarifying needs to improve business operations that translate to customer satisfaction
  • Monitor and action outstanding work on a weekly and monthly basis including reviewing and setting inventory min / max levels.
  • Identify and investigate exceptions within the data to optimize the finished good warehouse space and identify / action trends in the data.
  • Use established tools and activities to identify slow or non-moving inventory to identify cost savings and production improvements.
  • Monitoring and analyzing warehouse storage capacity to provide recommendations
  • Travel required to each of the finished goods warehouses weekly to work with your on-site team
  • Assess team’s performance using approved performance management processes and coaching techniques, while providing fair and consistent feedback
  • Tracking performance metrics including team objectives

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • 5 – 7 + years of proven experience in Operations Excellence, Optimization and / or warehouse racking / design
  • Post-secondary studies in Industrial Engineering or a related field
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with ability to extract details and draw conclusions from various data sources
  • Proven experience managing, leading and coaching a direct team
  • Must have advanced Excel and Access skills and be proficient in data queries
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven-ability to work cross-functionally with various internal stakeholders
  • Collaborative leader with strong skills in delegation and prioritization skills
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle required
