Job description

The Ontario Structured Psychotherapy (OSP) program aims to increase access to publicly funded evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and related approaches for Ontarians with depression anxiety and anxiety-related conditions (i.e. obsessive-compulsive disorder post-traumatic stress panic disorder agoraphobia social anxiety health anxiety etc.). The program is delivered through regional psychotherapy networks as a coordinated provincial program. Each network is comprised of several organizations including: (1) One Network Lead Organization (NLO) who provides quality and administrative oversight and support for providers in their network to implement/operate OSP and (2) multiple Service Delivery Sites (SDS) in communities across the region who provide protocol-based CBT treatment to clients with fidelity to the program model. Ontario Structured Psychotherapy West Region (OSP West) is jointly operated by St. Josephs Healthcare Hamilton and St. Josephs Health Care London as one NLO (Network Leader Organization)

For this position the applicant will be employed byHomewood Health one of the Service Delivery Sites delivering OSP. As a CBT Therapist you will be an integral part of a collaborative inter-disciplinary team focused on delivering seamless services and programs to our clients in their community and Ontario West region. Youll provide a combination of treatment planning clinical case coordination and direct service through both individual and group work for individuals struggling with depression anxiety and anxiety related conditions. What youll be doing:

  • Providing individual and group protocol-based structured psychotherapy including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and cognitive processing therapy (CPT) in alignment with OSP provincial model to individuals experiencing depression anxiety and anxiety-related conditions within their community and the Ontario West region
  • Actively incorporate anti-racist anti-oppressive practices and principles in the delivery of client-centered trauma-informed care at all levels of service
  • Working collaboratively with clients family members referral sources community partners and the OSP programs network in the provision of accessible equitable and inclusive care (e.g. interpretation services culturally appropriate and relevant care incorporating anti-racism and decolonizing approaches to care considering social determinants of health and trauma-informed approaches)
  • Contributing to ongoing program development and program evaluation and implement new practices as required
  • Completion of provincial training requirements within 12-18 months of hiring
  • Participation in regular individual and group clinical consultation during and post-training period

What were looking for:

  • Masters degree bachelors degree or an equivalent graduate diploma that requires completion of a bachelors level program and has the practice of psychotherapy central to its program with current membership/registration with professional discipline by college. E.g. OCSWSSW COTO CNO or registration as a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists
  • Experience in the provision of mental health and/or addictions treatment (2-3 years preferred)
  • Experience utilizing evidence-based CBT treatment models with clients experiencing symptoms of depression anxiety and anxiety related conditions
  • Documented evidence of formal CBT and CPT training with appropriate supervision/clinical consultation preferred. Additional training in cognitive processing therapy (CPT) preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practiced skills in providing culturally safe and responsive mental health services to clients of diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds is preferred
  • Experience working in a community-based or outpatient setting
  • The science and practice of individual and group-based psychotherapy Individual and group CBT CPT and/or other evidence-based psychotherapies for treating clients with depression and/or anxiety (including obsessive-compulsive concerns and post-traumatic stress)
  • Distinguishing features of depression anxiety and anxiety related conditions and the etiology and treatment of these disorders
  • Comprehensive understanding ofa strengths-based trauma-informed client-centered framework for mental health/addictions treatment
  • Motivational interviewing techniques to assess treatment readiness
  • Intersectionality and social determinants of health related to equitable access to and participation in mental health care
  • Anti-racist anti-oppressive theory and practice principles in mental health/addictions at a client and system-level
  • Relevant sections of legislation i.e. Mental Health Act Personal Health Information Protection Act Regulated Health Professions Act Health Care Consent Act and professional standards to ensure compliance and consistency in provision of client care
  • Computer software to generate correspondence and input data for a variety program specific tools e.g. Microsoft Office Suite workload measurement and electronic health record
  • Knowledge of teaching techniques to support adult learning
  • Fluency in French and/or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset
  • Ability to work with clients from diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds
  • Passionate about contributing to positive social change and commitment to anti-oppression and anti-racism to reduce health disparities and promote health equity
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills to develop and deliver clinically relevant evidence-based services
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and effective oral/written communication skills
  • Teamwork skills to develop and maintain strong working relationships problem solve and resolve conflict with inter-professional staff across the OSP network (e.g. administrative staff clinical staff regional therapists consultants program managers and directors)
  • Time management organizational and prioritization skills to effectively address multiple tasks/duties and timelines in a fast-paced and evolving environment
  • Attention to detail in collecting and reporting client and program information
  • Comfort in utilizing an online learning management system and in providing care virtually and/or by telephone
