Job Purpose

Under the general supervision of the Stores Manager, this position is responsible for purchasing products and materials for the company based on user requirements and in accordance with company procedures. This includes but is not limited to price/cost analysis, placing orders, and following up on delivery schedules along with establishing and maintaining business relationships with suppliers.

Primary Responsibilities

• Carry out price/cost analysis, plan and procure supplies, materials, equipment, and services.
• Establish and maintain business relationships with suppliers.
• Conduct research to identify potential vendors, compare and evaluate offers from suppliers, and negotiate contract terms, including pricing.
• Place purchase orders for goods and services and expedite purchase orders as required.
• Resolve issues pertaining to purchase orders such as receiving, invoicing discrepancies, and timely closure of purchase orders.
• Assist with receiving repair orders, creating work orders, tagging, and delivering items to production in accordance with internal requirements.
• Package products with care upon completion of repairs to ensure quality packaging of components.
• Provide purchasing planning and control information through collection, analysis and summarization of data and trends.
• Ensure a clean and organized environment for the stores and quarantine areas.

General Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain knowledge of the company's vision, mission, and values.
• Participate in special projects and related activities as required.
• Continuously update job knowledge by participating in training and other educational opportunities.
• Protect Company values by keeping information confidential.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance and safety programs to promote an incident and injury free culture.

Qualifications

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position include a high school diploma, with three to five years' previous warehouse and/or aviation experience. A Certified Professional Purchaser (CPP) accreditation or equivalent, a Certificate in Purchasing or a Parts Management Technician Certificate are considered assets. A valid class 5 driver's license is also required.

Skills, knowledge, and abilities include:

• Successfully complete WHMIS and dangerous goods awareness training.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• High degree of accuracy in clerical transactions.
• Ability to interpret maintenance requirements with minimal information provided.
• Strong analytical thinking, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong hands-on skills, self-motivated and demonstrated positive, can-do attitude.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and proven ability to work with various buying and inventory systems.
• Carry out duties with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.

Equipment Used

• Standard office and telecommunications equipment, including software/database management.
• Company truck and forklift.

Typical Physical and Cognitive Demands

• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Majority of work is completed at a sit-down desk in a warehouse office environment.
• Able to prioritize and organize objectives and meet deadlines.
• Must quickly adapt to changing assignments.
• Required to act professionally and use mature judgment.
• Ground and/or air travel required.
