Westerner Park is seeking a Casual General Service Employee to join our dynamic team.

The General Service Employee plays a key role in the daily operations of the Event Delivery department.

This hands-on position is responsible for supporting all aspects of event setup, execution, and takedown, including janitorial duties, grounds maintenance, equipment operation, and direct interaction with clients, guests, and other departments.

This role ensures operational efficiency, safety, and guest satisfaction while supporting the successful delivery of a wide range of year-round events.

Under the direction of the Assistant Manager, Event Delivery , the General Service Employee is responsible for the following: Event Production & Operations: Execute and set up a variety of year-round events, including internal events, special events, trade shows, consumer shows, conventions, sporting events, concerts, and other attractions.

Perform takedown and cleanup of event spaces, including rooms, pavilions, and outdoor areas.

Set up steel panels, horse stalling panels, and clean up manure.

Work safely around a variety of livestock.

Open and close facilities and grounds according to daily needs, BEOs, and supervisor instructions.

Collaborate with staff, suppliers, contractors, and volunteers to meet guest requirements.

Buildings & Janitorial Duties: Maintain show requirements such as temperature control, garbage removal, lighting, and cleaning.

Clean event areas, washrooms, entrances, rooms, and pavilions before, during, and after events.

Perform light maintenance duties, including painting, minor wall repairs, furniture repairs, carpet cleaning, and window cleaning.

Stock and maintain janitorial rooms and supplies.

Grounds Maintenance: Assist the Grounds Crew as requested.

Perform general maintenance of sidewalks, lawns, parking lots, and other areas as required.

Maintain planters, memorial benches, Harvest Gardens, and the park in general.

Equipment Operation: Operate machinery and equipment including forklifts, skid steers, tractors, floor scrubbers, mowers, chainsaws, electric clippers, pruning saws, and power grass trimmers, following proper training.

Team Support & Adaptability: Work cooperatively with other staff to meet operational needs and deadlines.

Take on additional responsibilities and tasks as required.

Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues to ensure smooth workflow.

This role is expected to adapt to organizational needs and may take on additional duties or responsibilities as required.

Here is what you bring: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

• 1–2 years of experience in janitorial work, event setup, labor, or equipment operation.

Basic computer proficiency with experience in email and Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.

Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Ability to work shift work, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to lift up to 35 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 60 lbs.

Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and in noisy environments.

Ability to work safely around animals.
