Position Overview

A global Technology and Media organisation is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join their Developer Experience & Productivity Engineering team. This role would suit an experienced Platform Engineer keen to work on high-impact projects at a global level.

Base pay range

CA$600.00 / yr - CA$700.00 / yr

Key Responsibilities

• Build out a new API gateway and support a broader rebuild of the development environment. Kick-off is planned for early January.
• Lead the migration from RabbitMQ to Kafka for internal big-data systems. This is a critical, high-priority initiative requiring deep Kafka expertise.
• Participate in a rotation handling developer requests, approvals, feature queries, and operational tasks to shield the engineering team from interruptions.
• Monitor, maintain, and respond to incidents related to platforms and systems you deploy—particularly Kafka.
• Strong experience building self-service platforms for developers. You understand the difference between enabling teams and traditional DevOps execution.
• Hands‑on experience standing up, configuring, and operating Kafka in production. You must be able to lead a full migration effort independently.
• Ability to hit the ground running and work autonomously, taking architectural direction from a staff engineer.
• Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a significant advantage.
