Memorial University is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to join our Facilities Management team as the Manager of Electrical Systems.
The St. John’s campus, which includes the Ocean Sciences Centre, Signal Hill Campus, and Botanical Gardens, encompasses more than 80 buildings with approximately 4 million square feet of teaching, research, student residences, and office space. In addition to supporting its own infrastructure, the campus maintains its own utilities infrastructure that provides power to its buildings and the Health Sciences Centre, the tertiary health care facility for the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Director, Operations and Maintenance, this position will manage a team of skilled professionals and be responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of electrical systems for multiple facilities, including high (where applicable), medium, and low voltage components and electrical power generation systems (>
13 MW. capacity in total). This is a crucial role for a technically skilled, safety-minded and people oriented leader who thrives in dynamic environments.
Duties include :
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
A minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in specialized facilities management support services with senior technical knowledge in electrical distribution systems; vast knowledge in electrical systems, power and control systems and their operation and maintenance; and completion of an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering is required. The successful applicant will have experience managing technical teams, proven budgeting and people management skills, as well as excellent problem solving, analytical, planning, and organizational abilities, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Registration or eligibility for membership with Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) is required. Project management certification or experience will be an asset.
SALARY $96,244 - $126,638 per annum (Leadership Group)
An upscale hiring step will apply to this position at $126,638 (Step 9).
A market differential of $17,737 will also apply (Dependent on Qualifications).
