Position Summary

Reporting to the Program Director, the Clinical Manager for Pediatric Ambulatory Clinics at the MUMC site is an integral member of the leadership team within a tertiary academic pediatric environment. The Clinical Manager works in close partnership with Medical Heads of Service, physician leaders, and Advanced Practice Professionals to ensure the delivery of high quality, evidence informed, and patient and family centred ambulatory care across the Program.

Aligned with Ontario Health clinical quality standards and Hamilton Health Sciences Vision – Leading Care, Driven by Discovery, the Clinical Manager provides operational, clinical, and people leadership to support accessible, equitable, and sustainable pediatric ambulatory services. The role is accountable for advancing timely access to care for children and families while ensuring care delivery is responsive to the diverse needs of the regional and provincial population served by HHS.

The Clinical Manager functions in accordance with the job summary for Clinical Managers and contributes to system level integration by collaborating across programs, services, and external partners, consistent with Ontario Health system planning and coordinated care principles.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading interprofessional teams to optimize clinical operations, human resources, and patient flow across pediatric ambulatory services.
• Partnering with medical leadership to support clinical service planning, quality improvement initiatives, and the translation of evidence into practice.
• Promoting a safe, therapeutic, and inclusive care environment grounded in health equity, family centred care, and quality outcomes, consistent with HHS foundational commitments.
• Providing financial stewardship through effective resource allocation, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement in service delivery.
• Supporting and leading change in alignment with HHS strategic priorities, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and learning.

Schedule Work Hours

Monday to Friday; days.

Qualifications

1. Baccalaureate degree in a health profession required, or an equivalent combination of education and leadership experience suited to an academic health sciences environment.
2. Minimum of three (3) years of recent and relevant leadership experience within an acute care and/or tertiary ambulatory clinical setting. Experience in pediatric ambulatory care is an asset.
3. Formal continuing education in healthcare leadership, including areas such as people leadership, quality improvement, change management, clinical operations, or system integration; is an asset.
4. Current registration with a recognized Regulated Health Profession College in Ontario preferred
5. Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop staff, supporting professional growth, clinical excellence, and succession planning in alignment with HHS’s commitment to learning and career development.
6. Proven leadership, organizational, and coordination skills in a fast paced, complex pediatric ambulatory healthcare environment.
7. Demonstrated creativity, innovation, and accountability in improving patient care services through evidence informed practice, consistent with Ontario Health quality standards and best practices.
8. Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and support constructive change.
9. Advanced critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills within clinical and operational contexts.
10. Demonstrated ability to leverage hospital and health system resources to enhance care delivery, access, and sustainability.
11. Evidence of ongoing professional development and lifelong learning, including leadership development activities appropriate to a clinical manager role within a tertiary pediatric organization.
12. Demonstrated commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Hamilton Health Sciences, with a focus on equitable, accessible, and family centred pediatric ambulatory care.
