Program Overview Food & Safety Services Community Care

WoodGreens Food Program provides Meals on Wheels services to seniors and adults with disabilities. The Food Handler organizes on-site dispatch logistics for volunteer drivers and runners ensuring meals are safely sorted and distributed according to delivery routes. The role includes working at multiple dispatch sites assisting with food handling operations and completing meal delivery routes when volunteer shortages occur.

Due to WoodGreens multi-site locations we reserve the right to relocate the incumbent to another site in the same position performing the same duties as may be dictated by program needs. Reasonable notice of such site relocation will be given.

What You Will Do

• Receives Meals on Wheels food from the supplier and verifies accuracy quality and correct labelling; reports discrepancies immediately.
• Sorts and loads meal items into coolers according to pre-assigned delivery routes.
• Meets volunteer drivers and runners at the send-off location provides route sheets and assists with safe vehicle loading.
• Notifies the Meals on Wheels Lead of delays volunteer absences or disruptions and collaborates to ensure route coverage.
• Delivers meals using agency vehicles when volunteers are unavailable.
• Transports meals to alternate volunteer dispatch sites as required.
• Cleans and sanitizes all coolers baskets and related equipment after each delivery shift.
• Works respectfully and collaboratively with volunteers reporting any concerns to the Supervisor.
• Works closely with Food Services staff to support all food handling and program needs.
• Provides cross-coverage for office staff during vacations sick leave or staffing shortages
• Delivers consistent high-quality customer service to clients.
• Responds professionally to emergency situations in accordance with unit and agency policies.
• Liaises with internal staff and attends meetings as directed by the Supervisor.
• Participates in regular supervisory check-ins and participates in program-level and individual performance evaluations.
• Upholds the organizations anti-racism objectives and community development principles.
• Engages in ongoing training and professional development as required by WoodGreen.
• Performs other related duties as assigned

What You Bring to the Team

Experience handling prepared food or working in a kitchen cafeteria grocery or food service setting is an asset.

Experience working with seniors or vulnerable populations is considered an advantage
