Unit Summary
Inpatient and ambulatory Pharmacy Services are provided at the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre, Hamilton General, McMaster University Medical Centre, St. Peter’s, and West Lincoln sites. The Pharmacy Department has introduced technology to further advance services in the inpatient and ambulatory settings. The scope of Pharmacy services also includes three retail pharmacies (Cancer Centre Pharmacy, McMaster Drugstore and General Drugstore).
Position Summary
The Administrative Assistant will provide full administrative support to the Director of Pharmacy. The Administrative Assistant will also facilitate the completion of internal and external reports of a financial, Human Resources, or operational nature. Responsibilities also include minute taking and scheduling meetings for the Hamilton Health Sciences Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and other committees in addition to overseeing the tracking and response to urgent, high-cost Non-Formulary Drug Requests. The Administrative Assistant is also responsible for monthly submissions of backordered drug reimbursements. The Administrative Assistant must exhibit strong problem-solving skills and an advanced expertise in MS Word, Excel and Outlook applications as well as familiarity with MS Access and knowledge of basic accounting principles.

Qualifications
1. Graduate of a Community College Administrative Assistant Program
2. Minimum 3 years office experience in a hospital setting
3. Pharmaceutical and medical terminology is an asset
4. Demonstrated proficient keyboarding skills (60 wpm)
5. Demonstrated expertise in minute-taking and transcription abilities
6. Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial systems is an asset
7. Required advanced knowledge of MS Office Programs (Word, Excel), Workforce Pro, Taleo and MyHR.
8. Required intermediate knowledge of MS PowerPoint, Access and Internet / HTML
9. Experience in a variety of computer applications including Basware and Meditech is an asset
10. Demonstrated excellence in effective written and verbal communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
11. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in both a team environment and on own initiative, organize and establish priorities when managing multiple projects, and meet project and task deadlines
12. Demonstrated ability to appreciate confidential nature of position
13. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with various hospital departments and regional stakeholders
