GL Accountant

We are looking for a diligent and detail-oriented GL Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis. In this role, you will oversee essential accounting activities, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger. This position is based in Toronto, Ontario, and offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a detail-focused services environment.Responsibilities:- Maintain and update the general ledger to ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts to support financial planning.- Monitor compliance with accounting standards and company policies.- Conduct variance analyses to identify and explain differences between actual and expected results.- Collaborate with auditors during audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and adjustments.- Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all accounting activities.- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.- Proven experience in general ledger accounting and related financial activities.- Strong understanding of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.- Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to handle complex financial data.- Attention to detail and accuracy in managing numbers and records.- Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders.- Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks in a dynamic work environment.- A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
