Job Purpose

This R&D Manager role will manage KraftHeinz categories and brands and lead a team of developers to drive our core business for the Canada portfolio. This role interfaces directly with the business and offers the ability to lead technically challenging projects and initiatives focused on productivity, growth, renovation, and brand maintenance. Success in the role requires cross-functional collaboration, strategic influence, problem solving, thoughtful career development planning for the team, and prioritization to lead multiple projects simultaneously. Successful candidate will have a technical background in food science / engineering, demonstrated strength in the commercialization process, proven ability to design product testing at plant scale, a growth mindset, and powerful teamwork skills. Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the business units, cross-functional teams, plants, and suppliers as the R&D category manager to manage projects and direct developers across all projects in the category
  • Lead the resources and budgets for projects and initiatives within the category
  • Participate in Stagegate, assist in scoping and facilitating business opportunities
  • Lead developers to design and implement tests, analyze data, draw conclusions, document findings, present results, and commercialize products
  • Translate research findings into substantial business opportunities and communicate to cross-functional teams
  • Communicate regularly with the R&D & X-functional leaders
  • Ability to direct developers across the category
  • Support extended cross functional team on initiatives to ensure speed to market
  • Interface with all related technical experts and internal category scientists to understand technologies and applications
  • Collaborate with teams to understand and ensure product quality and food safety requirements are defined and delivered through the completion of raw material, finished product and quality specifications that deliver consistent, high-quality products
  • Run technical timelines, provide clear and timely communication, complete risk assessments, raise issues, and develop contingency plans demonstrating strong project management skills
  • Adopt a culture of diversity & inclusion, sustainability, learning, and working like an owner
  • Elevate the competence and know-how of junior developers through training, coaching, and external networking
  • Management of junior staff including creation of development plans, building teamwork, and balancing of workload to help deliver in-year and pipeline projects
  • Drive engagement for respective team while partnering with peers

Expected Experience & Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s is a plus) - Food Science, Dairy Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in the CPG industry preferred
  • Ability to lead, coach, develop, and inspire others
  • Experienced product developer with high degree of fluency in project commercialization timelines, systems, and quality / manufacturing protocols.
  • Strong learning agility and ability to think on the fly
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, managing a complex network of stakeholders
  • Understanding of ingredient interactions / functionality
  • Self-motivated problem solver and critical thinker with the drive to deliver objectives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Manage multiple assignments / tasks concurrently with the ability to prioritize work for self and others
  • Understanding of Design of Experiments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Excellent influencing skills
  • Willingness to travel 30% pending business needs. Travel could include (but not limited to) : within United States and Canada to internal plants, co-manufacturers, and suppliers

    This position is considered a Normal office environment with moderate travel to customer locations, stores, manufacturing facilities, etc.; offices are open workspaces

    Fonctions et responsabilités essentielles

  • Travailler directement avec les unités d'affaires, les équipes interfonctionnelles, les usines et les fournisseurs en tant que gestionnaire de catégorie R&D pour gérer les projets et diriger les développeurs à travers tous les projets de la catégorie
  • Diriger les ressources et les budgets pour les projets et initiatives de la catégorie
  • Participer à Stagegate, aider à définir et faciliter les opportunités d'affaires
  • Guider les développeurs pour concevoir et mettre en œuvre des tests, analyser les données, tirer des conclusions, documenter les résultats, présenter les résultats et commercialiser des produits
  • Traduire les résultats de la recherche en opportunités d'affaires substantielles et communiquer avec des équipes interfonctionnelles
  • Communiquez régulièrement avec les responsables R&D et X-functional
  • Capacité à orienter les développeurs à travers la catégorie
  • Soutenir l'équipe transversale élargie sur les initiatives afin d'assurer la rapidité de mise sur le marché
  • Interagir avec tous les experts techniques et scientifiques internes des catégories afin de comprendre les technologies et les applications
  • Collaborer avec les équipes pour comprendre et s'assurer que les exigences de qualité des produits et de sécurité alimentaire sont définies et satisfaites lors de l'achèvement des spécifications de matières premières, de produits finis et de qualité qui offrent des produits cohérents et de haute qualité
  • Exécuter des échéanciers techniques, fournir une communication claire et rapide, réaliser des évaluations des risques, soulever des enjeux et élaborer des plans d'urgence démontrant de solides compétences en gestion de projet
  • Adoptez une culture de diversité et d'inclusion, de durabilité, d'apprentissage et de travail en tant que propriétaire
  • Élever la compétence et le savoir-faire des développeurs juniors grâce à la formation, au coaching et au réseautage externe
  • La gestion du personnel junior, incluant la création de plans de développement, le développement du travail d'équipe et l'équilibre de la charge de travail pour aider à livrer des projets en cours d'année et en pipeline
  • Favoriser l'engagement de chaque équipe tout en collaborant avec ses pairs
  • Expérience attendue et compétences requises

  • Baccalauréat (maîtrise est un plus) - Sciences alimentaires, sciences laitières, génie alimentaire, génie chimique, génie biologique, chimie, biochimie, microbiologie ou domaine connexe
  • 7+ ans d'expérience dans l'industrie des biens de consommation (CPG) préférés
  • Capacité à diriger, coacher, développer et inspirer les autres
  • Développeur de produits expérimenté, avec une grande maîtrise des délais de commercialisation des projets, des systèmes et des protocoles qualité / fabrication.
  • Grande agilité d'apprentissage et capacité à penser à la volée

    New Hire Base Salary Range :

    $104,200.00 - $130,200.00

    Bonus : This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.
