Senior Project Engineer -Transportation

Overview

Senior Project Engineer - Transportation role at GHD. To be successful, you must have a minimum of 10+ years of experience in transportation engineering, design and design coordination on large scale transportation projects including highways, roads, transit, and multi-modal infrastructure (LRT / BRT). The Senior Project Engineer will cooperate and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, regional team leads across Ontario, Canada, North America and GHD’s global network.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in leadership of transportation engineering design and project coordination across multiple transportation modalities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop transportation engineering design for roadway, highway and freeway projects, and / or multi-modal corridors including median LRT / BRT.
• Coordinate the preparation of civil deliverables, drawings and details from conception to final design in a 3D modelling environment (e.g., Civil 3D), following established standards and procedures.
• Lead small teams of engineers and / or designers to drive design phases and implement design standards on high-complexity transportation projects.
• Mentor and supervise junior staff and EITs / Technicians, fostering a team approach.
• Review and oversee the preparation of models and drawings; develop detailed drawings, quantities and supporting documents (technical memos, specifications, contract documents) with minimal guidance.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to produce high-quality project deliverables.
• Communicate with discipline leads, designers, and project team members to ensure timely flow of information and adherence to schedule, budget, and quality standards.
• Maintain contact with sub-consultants, municipalities, utility companies and clients.
• Oversee preparation of reports and contract documents for review agencies, clients, and the public.
• Work in Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build procurement environments.
• Adhere to GHD BIM and Quality standards and implement compliance at the project level.
• Participate in advancement of GHD Standard Civil / Transportation Details, including changes, updates, and training development.
• Identify opportunities for career development in design lead, design management, or project management roles and potential future supervision opportunities.
