Job duties may include : Working on a Life Skills program with a student on the Autism Spectrum.Working one-on-one with diagnosed students.Working with small groups in the Learning Resource Room.Education Assistants are to help implement the Individual Education Plan for students on their caseload (both in the classroom and during pull-out periods). Generally, the plan includes functional skills, academic support, and social skills. All staff are expected to support supervision and extra-curricular activities. Candidates should : Be eligible for a current British Columbia Criminal Record Check; Have training and experience in special education, i.e. having worked on a home team as a Behaviour Interventionist would be an asset; Have a background knowledge and experience working with a variety of students with special needs; Have some knowledge / background of a Life Skills program or Functional Curriculum; Be willing to work in a team environment.
