Jealous Fruits is the northern most large-scale cherry producer in North America. We grow premium cherries along the shores of Okanagan Lake in the renowned Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada. Our cherries are all hand packed in our state-of-the-art facility, located right on our farm, and shipped to our customers worldwide.
Job Purpose
Under the direction of the Orchard Manager the Tractor Operator is responsible for the transport of cherries from the field to the processing plant or designated loading area.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- The safe and responsible operation of farm equipment.
- Transport of cherries from the field to the plant without bruising or damaging cherries.
- Ensuring all maintenance issues are reported to your supervisor.
- Report any equipment damage to Farm Manager / Mechanic.
- Assisting forks / loader operator and swamper with unloading bins of empty totes and loading of bin trailers with totes of cherries in field.
- Towing bin trailers loaded with totes of cherries from the field to the processing plant.
- Towing bin trailers loaded with empty totes from the plant to the field.
- Perform and record tractor inspection checks before work shift following checklist provided.
- Perform basic maintenance of tractor and bin trailers, greasing and fueling up.
- Assisting in spraying the trees as directed by the Farm Manager.
- Taking part in Health and Safety training.
- Following direction given by supervisor
Qualifications
Clean class 5 driver’s license or equivalentApproved Tractor Operator TicketFluent in English is an asset.Must be able to carry out physically demanding tasks such as lifting 25 lbs on a frequent basis and walking on uneven terrain, as required.Must be a flexible team player who works well in a busy and demanding environmentGood eye for detail and quality maintenanceAble to work for extended periods of time in a focused, safe and professional mannerPrevious experience an assetWorking Conditions
