ABOUT THE ROLE :

As a valued member of the Social Housing Department, you will provide superior service in assisting with the landscaping and maintenance of one or more community sites owned and operated by Simcoe County Housing Corporation. This may involve inside and outside maintenance tasks such as :

  • Landscaping / maintenance functions (grounds-keeping duties, operating machinery. such as lawn tractors, lawn mowers, weed trimmers and garden tools, etc.)
  • Cleaning apartments and / or townhouses to prepare them for re-renting.
  • Cleaning and touch-up painting of public areas at assigned apartments and houses.
  • Performing basic routine repairs within the residential properties.
  • May be required to work outside of normal business hours on occasion.

MORE ABOUT YOU :

  • You are a registered full-time secondary or post-secondary student and are returning to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year.
  • Access to reliable transportation is required to get to the daily job site. A valid Ontario Class “G or G2” driver’s license, and use of reliable vehicle are an asset.
  • You have experience using outdoor landscaping equipment such as lawn tractors, lawn mowers, weed trimmers and other garden tools, as well as experience with interior and exterior painting.
  • You are organized and self-motivating, and can set priorities and work independently. Your speed and accuracy allow you to meet important deadlines, despite frequent interruptions.
  • You have interpersonal skills that allow you to relate in an objective and empathetic way with tenants and other customers.
  • Must have completed a criminal reference check from within the last 6 months.
