Legal Advisor - Commercial Law - Common Law & US

Our client is a major company with a significant portion of its business activities outside Quebec, mainly elsewhere in Canada and the United States. They are currently looking for a bilingual legal advisor who specializes in business law and who will be able to handle files in commercial, transactional and bank financing law. In addition, the professional hired will be responsible for supporting the company in the conduct of its cross-border operations, and must therefore have between 2 and 6 years' experience in the above-mentioned areas of law and/or as in-house legal counsel. In addition, the employer would like to meet candidates who have their Common Law training and/or are members of an American Bar Association. Some experience in cross-border taxation (Canada / US) would also be a significant asset for this role.
The ideal candidate will stand out for his autonomy, dynamism and ability to act in partnership with the business line to achieve the company's commercial objectives. In addition, he or she will be practical, solution-oriented and a team player. To this end, our client-employer has set itself the ambitious goal of finding a candidate who will prove the perfect complement to the current legal team.
You'll find that a great deal of flexibility is possible in terms of the conditions attached to the position, for example in terms of determining responsibilities and overall workload. Indeed, although the position is currently designed for a full-time lawyer, it would be conceivable to hire a professional who would rather work 3 or 4 days a week.
