PERMANENT FULL-TIME SCHOOL TERM POSITION IN NORTH SHORE (Onsite)

Are you passionate about shaping young minds and uplifting Indigenous learners through inclusive, culturally grounded education? Xwemélch’stn Etsímxwawtxw (Squamish Nation Elementary School) is seeking a dedicated K4–Grade 7 Teacher who brings energy, empathy, and innovation into the classroom. This role is ideal for an educator committed to engaging students through cross-curricular inquiry, research-based teaching practices, and a deep respect for Indigenous ways of knowing and being. You will support our students’ academic, social, and emotional development in a collaborative and student-centered environment, while integrating Sḵwx̱wú7mesh values, language, and culture into learning. Whether you’re teaching foundational literacy or project-based math, this is your opportunity to nurture the next generation of Squamish leaders and learners.

What You’ll Do
  • Plan and deliver grade-appropriate, inclusive educational programming.
  • Use student-centered strategies to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
  • Collaborate with staff, students, families, and community members to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Integrate Indigenous knowledge, culture, and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh worldview into curriculum delivery.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and emotionally responsive classroom environment.
  • Display strong emotional intelligence, including self-awareness, empathy, and adaptability.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to implement current, research-informed instructional methods.
  • Collaborate with the Team Leader/Principal and contribute to whole-school initiatives.
  • Participate in curriculum planning, staff meetings, and school community events.
  • Maintain student records and report on academic and social progress.
  • Follow all health and safety policies and safe work practices.
  • Assist with other teaching assignments as needed within the K4–Grade 7 program.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education (or a relevant related field) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Valid BC Teaching Certificate in good standing.
  • A creative, inclusive educator with a passion for student success.
  • Knowledge of inquiry-based learning, social-emotional development, and Indigenous educational approaches.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Experience in teaching Indigenous students is a strong asset.
  • Flexibility and cultural humility when working with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Cultural humility and respect for Sḵwx̱wú7mesh values, sovereignty, and self-determination.

Salary: Compensation based on BC School District

Candidates are typically offered compensation between the beginning to the midpoint of the range. We are committed to providing a fair and equitable package that reflects the value an individual brings to the organization.
