About the role

This position provides professional nursing care to residents and monitors nursing practice of Regulated Health Care Practitioners and Non-regulated Health Care Practitioners to deliver a high standard of nursing and personal care. It includes oversight of resident care treatments and medication administration, guidance, training, mentoring, coordinating, scheduling, and ensuring a safe working environment. It also involves directing all activities necessary for the LTC Home, and leading application of after-hours emergency response procedures, infection prevention and control practices and protocols, and occupational health and safety responsibilities, within the standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Facility Program Standards.

Qualifications

• Currently in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse with entitlement to practice (no restrictions).
• Minimum four (4) years nursing experience in a long-term care facility or geriatrics environment.
• Ability to successfully complete Standard First Aid CPR-A within 3 months of commencement; maintain CPR refresher annually.
• Current (within the past 12 months) verification of AIS Proficiency Evaluation Certificate for Nursing and Allied Health Disciplines, with annual renewal.
• As a condition of employment, provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC), tuberculosis screening, and proof of immunization per the Long-Term Care Homes Act (O.Reg.79/10).
