We are seeking a creative, dynamic, committed professional to join our team as : CarpenterFacilities Maintenance Department Position Status : Regular, 100%Work Year : Works 12 months per yearHours of Work : Monday to Friday, Eight (8) consecutive hours between 6 : 00 am and 4 : 00 pm, excluding an unpaid meal period of up to one hour; 40 hours per weekSalary range : $30.99 to $32.17 per hour ($64,459 to $66,914 per year) - 2021 rate, subject to Bill 124 and contract negotiation increases Under the direction of the Team Lead or designate, the Carpenter installs, repairs and maintains structural, cosmetic and built-in building components and equipment; ensures work performed in Board buildings is completed in a safe, effective manner; ensures compliance with Board / Legislative standards and codes; ensures that Board vehicle and tools are properly maintained; and performs other related duties required to ensure that properties, facilities and equipment are properly maintained. Qualifications Knowledge of current relevant codes and legislation (Acts and Regulations), new materials, equipment, products, methods and procedures. Sound knowledge of the carpentry trade with experience in the construction of wood framed structures and the fabrication of cabinetry and mill work. Interpersonal, communication, and listening skills required to liaise with co-workers, principals and other Board personnel, to understand and explain problems with equipment and / or materials. Initiative and judgement are required to make decisions such as methods of repair and equipment / supplies needed, prioritizing work orders. Organization skills to prioritize work and reschedule activities due to emergency calls. Ability to use a variety of tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, drills, circular saws, planers, radial arm saws, and hydraulic personnel lifting devices. Ability to report code violations, complete forms such as daily logs and work order sheets, perform calculations to determine building materials and costing. Ability to use electronic mail system and computer maintenance management system and to work with minimum supervision. This knowledge would normally be obtained through completion of a secondary school diploma, an Ontario Certificate of Qualification in General Carpentry and 5 years experience in the carpentry trade, which includes 3 years in industrial or commercial maintenance. Valid Ontario Class G driver's license required, or equivalent, and completion of the requirements to be a Canadian Certified Playground Inspector. The incumbent is required to keep all licenses and certifications current and to take approved training courses as required.
