Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Organizational Psychologist to support the growth our Organizational Dynamics expertise within the Strategy & Transformation practice in Toronto. We’re specifically looking for someone that is passionate about the human aspect of project delivery, recognizes that project success relies on the behaviors of the people delivering those projects and is excited to explore ways for developing high-performing teams.

We’re looking for someone that has a rare blend of real-world experience and theory, a passion for challenging traditional wisdom, the right mix of boardroom polish and grassroots hustle and is comfortable blurring the lines between the rigor and the creative.

You will join our multidisciplinary team of talented strategists, designers, architects, data analysts, and other organizational specialists to support projects which encompass world class corporations, agencies, institutions, and local and federal governments.

This is a newly created position.

Is this role right for you?

Your role as an Organizational Psychologist will vary from project to project, relationship to relationship, and may include:

  • Helping clients to shape and act on change strategies for complex organizational challenges to capitalize on value-creating opportunities

  • Assess organizational capabilities, structures and processes and develop the future capabilities, competencies and critical roles that enable an organization’s 5-10 year strategy

  • Design and activate organizational interventions to encourage collaboration across siloed organizations

  • Generate new opportunities by thinking creatively about financial and operational impacts, risks, experiments, data and other drivers

  • Translate behavioural research into insights that can be easily communicated to your collaborators and clients to inspire possible solutions

  • Craft research plans comprised of interviews, workshops, analogous industries and organizations to understand an organization’s working dynamics and surface opportunity areas

  • Shape and act on change strategies that may start small, and lead to long-term impact at scale

  • Design tools, methodologies and frameworks that address strategic and organizational issues and foster new ways of thinking and working

  • Shape AECOM’s perspective on organizational strategy – we like to push the edges in all aspects of our work

About You

You ask thought provoking questions, are comfortable wading into ambiguous problems, can take ownership, are a critical thinker, and have specialized experience in one or more of the following areas and possesses a broader comfort and ability to work within many of these areas:

  • Organizational psychology, behavioural economics and change management

  • Workforce planning, operations and capability development, human resources

  • Management consulting and / or corporate strategy

  • Data analytics & modeling

  • User research, synthesis of qualitative data and generating insights

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in a related field, including but not limited to industrial/organizational psychology, business administration, behavioural science or human resources and 4 years of experience in organization design, collaborative behavioral assessments, change management and developing and implementing new ways of thinking and working or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education

Preferred Requirements

  • Ideally 6 or more years experience in organization design, collaborative behavioral assessments, change management and developing and implementing new ways of thinking and working

  • Experience in other consulting firms or management consultancies

  • Experience in the built environment, infrastructure or architecture and engineering industry

  • Membership to the Canadian Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (CSIOP) or similar international accreditation

  • Successfully applied organizational psychology or behavioural economics principles in past projects

Application Instructions

The following materials are required for your application to be considered

  • Resume

  • Cover letter (yes, we read them!) explaining why you are interested in AECOM and Strategy & Transformation, and how your skills and experience align to this opportunity

  • Project Example - To get to know you and your experience better, attach an example of work that you’re proud to help us understand your process, learnings & insights, why you made particular decisions, and most importantly, what was interesting or unexpected!
