Tiercon Corp. is an automotive supplier committed to the design, manufacture and assembly of quality exterior trim and assembled systems used as original equipment in the automotive market. Headquartered in Stoney Creek, the plants have design, mold, paint, assembly and testing capabilities. Tiercon manages 5 sites across 2 cities employing approximately 550 people throughout Canada. Tiercon is seeking knowledgeable, self-directed, experienced and hardworking individuals interested in the automotive industry as a Product Designer at our 591 Arvin Ave. Stoney Creek facility.

Job Summary & Reporting Structure :

Work within Product Development to generate new product designs using the latest tools and engineering processes. Continuously improve design of current products utilizing VAVE, DOE and other related best practices. This position also applies to participation in the design innovation process and requires the key ability to apply the design needs of Tiercon, the customer, suppliers, and the appropriate regulating bodies to all job tasks.

Responsibilities :

  • Support the product design elements of new product development within the APQP process
  • Design support for the continuous improvement of current products.
  • Design resource during the ECR process
  • Support design innovation projects.
  • The following are tasks (including appropriate documentation) that may be required within new product design, continuous improvement and innovation projects :

o Vehicle and / or part data procurement

o Participate in concept design

o System and component design including reviews

o Procure and apply all relevant specifications

o 3D CAD models and drawing creation / revision (NX8, CATIA5)

o Verification and / or validation of design through tolerance analysis, engineering calculations, prototypes, fit-ups, DVP&R management, product testing, etc.

o DFMEA's, DFM / DFA, VA / VE analysis, Material specifications, DVP&R, etc.

o BOMs

o Installation ease and work instructions to meet customer expectations

o Other relevant design elements of APQP, ECRs and Innovation

Qualifications :

  • Mechanical diploma / degree or equivalent work experience
  • Proficient user of core CAD products (NX, CATIA 5)
  • Ability to participate and / or lead design review, FMEA and brainstorm meetings to ensure design goals are met.
  • Ability to be a design liaison with the customer and suppliers
  • The successful Product Designer candidate must be flexible to work at any Tiercon / AGS location. Must be willing to travel to customer locations and supply base, including occasional International travel with associated work assignments.
